Concept

The „Alte Feuerwache“is a center utilizing six priorities following our concepts which consist of:

a living area
a hostel for German and international teenage visitors
recreational facilities for children and youths
a district Café
job and training offers
district oriented counseling; social and cultural related work

The concept of a neighborhood meeting point occurred gradually while being strongly linked to the educational and socio-political ideas of the BDP. The BDP's goal being to strengthen the learning abilities and courses of action of youths in the framework of their work and life. The old scout principle of „learning by doing“is implemented in the daily child and youth work, as well as the importance of incorporating the environment, meaning the district and the people living in it.

We want to help young people by letting them grow to become dedicated members of society who are capable of critical thinking. For this to succeed, the children's personal ability is needed along with the aid of the social structure in which the children are growing up. The close living environment is seen as an opportunity to bring their personal capabilities into fruition which actively shapes them as members of society.

The concept and practical work includes:
interculturalism, a generational overlap, social orientation, a participating nature, cooperation, activation, and the encouragement of individuals to help themselves.
